1971 Camaro Pro Touring, FULL RESTORATION!!!

This is really a very nice and sleek 1971 Camaro. Not often have we seen them like this.

In 2000 this car was imported from Switzerland by the current owner.

Shortly after the import, the car was completely disassembled for a thorough restoration. Not only the body, but also the suspension, brakes, steering, engine and transmission were completely renewed.

The car is built for auto cross. For this, the car must have good power and excellent steering and braking characteristics.

The engine is an LT1 and comes from a 1993 Corvette. The engine has around 320 hp as standard, but it is equipped with various performance upgrades such as performance cam, Hedman headers and Flowmaster exhaust that sounds really aggressive. We estimate the power at 375hp. The transmission is a TH700R4 with overdrive and lockup. Great to race and great for cruising. It shifts electronic through paddles on the steering wheel. The engine runs really nice and the transmission shifts smoothly and directly. A Howe aluminum radiator ensures that the engine stays at the right temperature. A completely new Painless wiring harness was installed throughout the car to increase the reliability of the electronics.

The suspension has been chosen for Hotchkis. The front springs, rear leaf springs, shock absorbers and stabilization bars are all of this brand. The control arms are from DSE (Detriot Speed & Engineering). The power steering box is also from DSE and steers super tight.

Baer was chosen for the brakes. A very well know high quality brake brand from the USA. The calipers and 13 inch rotors ensure that this car stops super fast! Really amazing!! The rims are from the American Racing Torq Trust II. 17x8 front with 245-45-17 Bridgestone Potenza tires.  17x9.5 with 285-40-17 Bridgestone tires in the rear. This combination ensures that the car still drives comfortably but also steers tightly.

The frame, the inner fenders, the radiator support, the hood hinges, everything is blasted and powder coated gloss black. And you can tell! Everything still shines like the day everything was assembled.

The body is super sleek and was painted in the Netherlands in the color Hugger Orange. The seams on doors and fenders were perfectly aligned so that the car could be put together nicely and properly again. The paint is almost perfect! How beautiful and what a good paint job there is on this Camaro !! There is of course no rust and all the sheet metal is original and super tight.

The interior is neat and tidy. Carpet, door panels, headliner, seat upholstery, everything in very neat condition. The dashboard is equipped with electric Ultra Lite Sport Comp Autometer gauges. All gauges work fine. An Ididit tilt steering column was mounted and recently a “paddle shifter” was installed with which the gears can be shifted by means of “flippers”. The interior is also equipped with a sound system, but it is mounted very modest. Heater and fan are working properly. All rubbers for the door, window and trunk are new. The car is largely equipped with sound-damping material. This makes it nice and quiet in the cabin while driving.

Just a summary:

  • Engine: LT1 with 700R4, 325HP, 450Nm
  • Suspension: Hotchkiss springs and stabilization, DSE control arms
  • Steering gear: DSE
  • Brakes: Baer
  • Wheels: American Racing TTII with Bridgestone tires
  • Meters: Autometer Ultra Lite
  • Shifter: Mastershift.com with digital display

This is the ultimate pro touring Camaro. It drives and steers super tight, but is also a great car for cruising long distance.
